darpaṇādye dekhi' yadi āpana mādhurī

āsvādite haya lobha, āsvādite nāri

SYNONYMS

darpaṇa-ādye — beginning in a mirror; dekhi' — seeing; yadi — if; āpana — own; mādhurī — sweetness; āsvāditeto taste; haya — there is; lobha — desire; āsvāditeto taste; nāriI am not able.

TRANSLATION

"If I see My sweetness in a mirror, I am tempted to taste it, but nevertheless I cannot.
