gopyaś ca krishnam upalabhya cirād abhīshtam
yat-prekshane driśishu pakshma-kritam śapanti
drigbhir hridī-kritam alam parirabhya sarvās
tad-bhāvam āpur api nitya-yujām durāpam
SYNONYMS
gopyah — the gopīs; ca — and; krishnam — Lord Krishna; upalabhya — seeing; cirāt — after a long time; abhīshtam — desired object; yat-prekshane — in the seeing of whom; driśishu — in the eyes; pakshma-kritam — the maker of eyelashes; śapanti — curse; drigbhih — with the eyes; hridī kritam — who entered the hearts; alam — enough; parirabhya — embracing; sarvāh — all; tat-bhāvam — that highest stage of joy; āpuh — obtained; api — although; nitya-yujām — by perfected yogīs; durāpam — difficult to obtain.
TRANSLATION
"The gopīs saw their beloved Krishna at Kurukshetra after a long separation. They secured and embraced Him in their hearts through their eyes, and they attained a joy so intense that not even perfect yogīs can attain it. The gopīs cursed the creator for creating eyelids that interfered with their vision."
