|Ādi-līlā||Chapter 5: The Glories Of Lord Nityānanda Balarāma|
Bhaktivedanta VedaBase: Śrī Caitanya Caritāmṛta Ādi 5.81
sṛṣṭy-ādi-nimitte yei aḿśera avadhāna
sei ta' aḿśere kahi 'avatāra' nāma
sṛṣṭi-ādi-nimitte — for the cause of creation, maintenance and annihilation; yei — which; aḿśera avadhāna — manifestation of the part; sei ta' — that certainly; aḿśere kahi — I speak about that plenary expansion; avatāra nāma — by the name "incarnation."
That fragment of the Supreme Lord, known as the Mahā-puruṣa, appears for the purpose of creation, maintenance and annihilation and is called an incarnation.
