pūrve ashta-śloka kari' loke śikshā dilā
sei ashta-ślokera artha āpane āsvādilā
SYNONYMS
pūrve — formerly; ashta-śloka kari' — composing eight verses; loke śikshā dilā — gave instruction to the people in general; sei — those; ashta-ślokera — of the eight stanzas; artha — the meaning; āpane āsvādilā — personally tasted.
TRANSLATION
The Lord had formerly composed these eight verses to teach people in general. Now He personally tasted the meaning of the verses, which are called the Śikshāshtaka.
