raja kahe, -- upavasa, kshaura -- tirthera vidhana

taha na kariya kene khaiba anna-pana

SYNONYMS

raja kahe -- the King said; upavasa -- fasting; kshaura -- shaving; tirthera vidhana -- this is the regulation for visiting a holy place; taha -- that; na kariya -- without performing; kene -- why; khaiba -- they shall eat; anna-pana -- solid and liquid food.

TRANSLATION

The King then asked the Bhattacarya, "Why have the devotees not observed the regulations for visiting the pilgrimage place, such as fasting, shaving and so on? Why have they first eaten prasadam?"
