SYNONYMS
śeshe — in Lord Śesha; sva-sevana śakti — the power to serve the Lord personally; prithute — in King Prithu; pālana — the power to rule; paraśurāme — in Paraśurāma; dushta-nāśaka-vīrya — the extraordinary power to kill rogues and miscreants; sańcārana — empowering.
TRANSLATION
"The Supreme Personality of Godhead invested the power of personal service in Lord Śesha, and He invested the power to rule the earth in King Prithu. Lord Paraśurāma received the power to kill rogues and miscreants.
PURPORT
Krishna says in the Bhagavad-gītā (4.8), paritrānāya sādhūnām vināśāya ca dushkritām. Sometimes the Lord invests His power to rule in a king like Prithu and enables such a king to kill rogues and miscreants. He also invests His power in incarnations like Paraśurāma.
