maha-bhagavata haya caitanya-gosani
ei kali-kale vishnura avatara nai
SYNONYMS
maha-bhagavata -- a great devotee; haya -- is; caitanya-gosani -- Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu; ei -- this; kali-kale -- in the Age of Kali; vishnura -- of Lord Vishnu; avatara -- incarnation; nai -- there is not.
TRANSLATION
"Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is certainly a great, uncommon devotee, but we cannot accept Him as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu because, according to sastra, there is no incarnation in this Age of Kali.
