śuniyā sabāra mane haila mahā-duḥkha

niḥśabda ha-ilā, sabāra śukāila mukha

SYNONYMS

śuniyā — hearing this; sabāra — of all the devotees; manein the minds; haila — there was; mahā-duḥkha — great unhappiness; niḥśabda — silent; ha-ilā — became; sabāra — of everyone; śukāila — dried up; mukha — the faces.

TRANSLATION

Upon hearing this message from Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, all the devotees became very unhappy and remained silent with sullen faces.
