śrī-śuka uvāca

athoddhavo niśamyaivam

krishna-darśana-lālasāh

sāntvayan priya-sandeśair

gopīr idam abhāshata

SYNONYMS

śrī-śukah uvācaŚukadeva Gosvāmī said; atha — then; uddhavahUddhava; niśamya — having heard; evam — thus; krishna-darśana — after the sight of Krishna; lālasāh — who were hankering; sāntvayan — pacifying; priya — of their beloved; sandeśaih — with the messages; gopīhto the cowherd girls; idam — this; abhāshatahe said.

TRANSLATION

Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Having heard this, Uddhava then tried to pacify the gopīs, who were most eager to see Lord Krishna. He thus began relating to them the message of their beloved.
