SYNONYMS
uvāsa — he resided; katicit — for some; māsān — months; gopīnām — of the cowherd girls; vinudan — dispelling; śucah — the unhappiness; krishna-līlā — of the pastimes of Lord Krishna; kathām — the topics; gāyan — singing; ramayām āsa — he gave joy; gokulam — to Gokula.
TRANSLATION
Uddhava remained there for several months, dispelling the gopīs' sorrow by chanting the topics of Lord Krishna's pastimes. Thus he brought joy to all the people of Gokula.
PURPORT
The great ācārya Jīva Gosvāmī comments in this regard that Uddhava, during his stay in Vrindāvana, certainly took special care to enliven Krishna's foster parents, Nanda and Yaśodā.
