vai śriyārcitam ajādibhir āpta-kāmair

yogeśvarair api yad ātmani rāsa-goshthyām

krishnasya tad bhagavatah caranāravindam

nyastam staneshu vijahuh parirabhya tāpam

SYNONYMS

yāh — who (the gopīs); vai — indeed; śriyā — by the goddess of fortune; arcitam — worshiped; aja — by unborn Brahmā; ādibhih — and other demigods; āpta-kāmaih — who have already realized all desires; yoga-īśvaraih — masters of mystic power; api — even though; yat — which; ātmaniin the mind; rāsa — of the rāsa dance; goshthyāmin the gathering; krishnasya — of Lord Krishna; tat — those; bhagavatah — of the Supreme Lord; carana-aravindam — the lotus feet; nyastam — placed; staneshu — on their breasts; vijahuh — they gave up; parirabhya — by embracing; tāpam — their torment.

TRANSLATION

The goddess of fortune herself, along with Lord Brahmā and all the other demigods, who are masters of yogic perfection, can worship the lotus feet of Krishna only within her mind. But during the rāsa dance Lord Krishna placed His feet upon these gopīs' breasts, and by embracing those feet the gopīs gave up all distress.
