nihsango mukta-samsayah

samadhaya manah krishne

pravisad gandhamadanam

SYNONYMS

tapah -- in austerities; sraddha -- faith; yutah -- having; dhirah -- serious; nihsangah -- detached from material association; mukta -- freed; samsayah -- of doubts; samadhaya -- fixing in trance; manah -- his mind; krishne -- upon Lord Krishna; pravisat -- he entered upon; gandhamadanam -- the mountain known as Gandhamadana.

TRANSLATION

The sober King, beyond material association and free of doubt, was convinced of the value of austerity. Absorbing his mind in Lord Krishna, he came to Gandhamadana Mountain.

PURPORT

The name Gandhamadana indicates a place of delightful fragrances. Undoubtedly Gandhamadana was filled with the aroma of wild flowers and forest honey, and with other natural scents.
