krishnantikam upavrajya

dadrisus tatra rukminam

tatha-bhutam hata-prayam

drishtva sankarshano vibhuh

vimucya baddham karuno

bhagavan krishnam abravit

SYNONYMS

krishna -- of Krishna; antikam -- the proximity; upavrajya -- approaching; dadrisuh -- they (the Yadu soldiers) saw; tatra -- there; rukminam -- Rukmi; tatha-bhutam -- in such a condition; hata -- dead; prayam -- practically; drishtva -- seeing; sankarshanah -- Balarama; vibhuh -- the omnipotent; vimucya -- releasing; baddham -- the bound-up (Rukmi); karunah -- compassionate; bhagavan -- the Lord; krishnam -- to Krishna; abravit -- said.

TRANSLATION

As the Yadus approached Lord Krishna, they saw Rukmi in this sorry condition, practically dying of shame. When the all-powerful Lord Balarama saw Rukmi, He compassionately released him and spoke the following to Lord Krishna.
