avidhya sulam tarasa garutmate
nirasya vaktrair vyanadat sa pancabhih
sa rodasi sarva-diso 'mbaram mahan

SYNONYMS
avidhya -- whirling about; sulam -- his trident; tarasa -- with great force; garutmate -- at Garuda; nirasya -- throwing it; vaktraih -- with his mouths; vyanadat -- roared; sah -- he; pancabhih -- five; sah -- that; rodasi -- the earth and sky; sarva -- all; disah -- the directions; ambaram -- outer space; mahan -- the great (roar); apurayan -- filling; anda -- of the egglike covering of the universe; kataham -- the pot; avrinot -- covered.
TRANSLATION
Mura whirled his trident and then hurled it fiercely at Garuda, roaring from all five mouths. The sound filled the earth and sky, all directions and the limits of outer space, until it reverberated against the very shell of the universe.
