evam -- thus; rukshaih -- harsh; tudan -- harassing; vakyaih -- with words; krishnam -- Lord Krishna; totraih -- with goads; iva -- as if; dvipam -- an elephant; gadaya -- with his club; atadayat -- he struck Him; murdhni -- on the head; simha-vat -- like a lion; vyanadat -- roared; ca -- and; sah -- he.
TRANSLATION
Thus trying to harass Lord Krishna with harsh words, as one might prick an elephant with sharp goads, Dantavakra struck the Lord on the head with his club and roared like a lion.
