srutva dvijaih kathyamanam

kuru-pandava-samyuge

sarva-rajanya-nidhanam

bharam mene hritam bhuvah

SYNONYMS

srutva -- hearing; dvijaih -- by brahmanas; kathyamanam -- being related; kuru-pandava -- between the Kurus and the Pandavas; samyuge -- in the battle; sarva -- of all; rajanya -- kings; nidhanam -- the annihilation; bharam -- the burden; mene -- He thought; hritam -- removed; bhuvah -- of the earth.

TRANSLATION

The Lord heard from some brahmanas how all the kings involved in the battle between the Kurus and Pandavas had been killed. From this He concluded that the earth was now relieved of her burden.
