śrī-śuka uvāca

evam samprārthito viprah

sva-cikīrshitam eva tat

cakāra nāma-karanam

gūdho rahasi bālayoh

SYNONYMS

śrī-śukah uvācaŚrī Śukadeva Gosvāmī said; evamin this way; samprārthitah — being eagerly requested; viprah — the brāhmana Gargamuni; sva-cikīrshitam eva — which he already desired to do and for which he had gone there; tat — that; cakāra — performed; nāma-karanam — the name-giving ceremony; gūdhah — confidentially; rahasiin a secluded place; bālayoh — of the two boys (Krishna and Balarāma).

TRANSLATION

Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued: Having thus been especially requested by Nanda Mahārāja to do that which he already desired to do, Gargamuni performed the name-giving ceremony for Krishna and Balarāma in a solitary place.
