arājake rakshyamānā
jigyur dasyūn samedhitāh
SYNONYMS
purā — formerly; anena — by Krishna; vraja-pate — O King of Vraja; sādhavah — those who were honest; dasyu-pīditāh — being disturbed by rogues and thieves; arājake — when there was an irregular government; rakshyamānāh — were protected; jigyuh — conquered; dasyūn — the rogues and thieves; samedhitāh — flourished.
TRANSLATION
O Nanda Mahārāja, as recorded in history, when there was an irregular, incapable government, Indra having been dethroned, and people were being harassed and disturbed by thieves, this child appeared in order to protect the people and enable them to flourish, and He curbed the rogues and thieves.
PURPORT
Indra is the king of the universe. Demons, thieves and rogues always disturb Indra (indrāri-vyākulam lokam), but when indrāris, the enemies of Indra, become prominent, Krishna appears. Krishnas tu bhagavān svayam/ indrāri-vyākulam lokam mridayanti yuge yuge (Bhāg. 1.3.28).
