matsyośīnara-kauśalya-
anyāmś caivātma-pakshīyān
nandādīn suhrido gopān
gopīś cotkanthitāś ciram
SYNONYMS
tatra — there; āgatān — arrived; te — they (the Yādavas); dadriśuh — saw; suhrit — friends; sambandhinah — and relatives; nripān — kings; matsya-uśīnara-kauśalya-vidarbha-kuru-sriñjayān — the Matsyas, Uśīnaras, Kauśalyas, Vidarbhas, Kurus and Sriñjayas; kāmboja-kaikayān — the Kāmbojas and Kaikayas; madrān — the Madras; kuntīn — the Kuntīs; ānarta-keralān — the Ānartas and Keralas; anyān — others; ca eva — also; ātma-pakshīyān — of their own party; parān — adversaries; ca — and; śataśah — by the hundreds; nripa — O King (Parīkshit); nanda-ādīn — headed by Nanda Mahārāja; suhridah — their dear friends; gopān — the cowherd men; gopīh — the cowherd women; ca — and; utkanthitāh — in anxiety; ciram — for a long time.
TRANSLATION
The Yādavas saw that many of the kings who had arrived were old friends and relatives — the Matsyas, Uśīnaras, Kauśalyas, Vidarbhas, Kurus, Sriñjayas, Kāmbojas, Kaikayas, Madras, Kuntīs and the kings of Ānarta and Kerala. They also saw many hundreds of other kings, both allies and adversaries. In addition, my dear King Parīkshit, they saw their dear friends Nanda Mahārāja and the cowherd men and women, who had been suffering in anxiety for so long.
