śrī-vasudeva uvāca

amba māsmān asūyethā

daiva-krīdanakān narān

īśasya hi vaśe lokah

kurute kāryate 'tha

SYNONYMS

śrī-vasudevah uvācaŚrī Vasudeva said; amba — my dear sister; — please do not; asmān — with us; asūyethāh — be angry; daiva — of fate; krīdanakān — the playthings; narān — men; īśasya — of the Supreme Lord; hi — indeed; vaśe — under the control; lokaha person; kurute — acts on his own; kāryate — is made to act by others; atha — or else.

TRANSLATION

Śrī Vasudeva said: Dear sister, please do not be angry with us. We are only ordinary men, playthings of fate. Indeed, whether a person acts on his own or is forced by others, he is always under the Supreme Lord's control.
