tam drishtvā vrishnayo hrishtās

tanvah prānam ivotthitāh

parishasvajire gādham

cira-darśana-kātarāh

SYNONYMS

tam — him, Nanda; drishtvā — seeing; vrishnayah — the Vrishnis; hrishtāh — delighted; tanvah — living bodies; prānam — their vital air; ivaas if; utthitāh — rising; parishaśvajire — they embraced him; gādham — firmly; cira — after a long time; darśanain seeing; kātarāh — agitated.

TRANSLATION

Seeing Nanda, the Vrishnis were delighted and stood up like dead bodies coming back to life. Having felt much distress at not seeing him for so long, they held him in a tight embrace.
