tapas carantim ajnaya

sva-pada-sparsanasaya

sakhyopetyagrahit panim

yo 'ham tad-griha-marjani

SYNONYMS

sri-kalindi uvaca -- Sri Kalindi said; tapah -- penances; carantim -- executing; ajnaya -- knowing; sva -- His; pada -- of the feet; sparsana -- for the touch; asaya -- with the desire; sakhya -- together with His friend (Arjuna); upetya -- coming; agrahit -- took; panim -- my hand; yah -- who; aham -- I; tat -- His; griha -- of the residence; marjani -- the cleaner.

TRANSLATION

Sri Kalindi said: The Lord knew I was performing severe austerities and penances with the hope of one day touching His lotus feet. So He came to me in the company of His friend and took my hand in marriage. Now I am engaged as a sweeper in His palace.
