patnī-samyājāvabhrithyaiś

caritvā te maharshayah

sasnū rāma-hrade viprā

yajamāna-purah-sarāh

SYNONYMS

patnī-samyāja — the ritual in which the sponsor of the sacrifice offers oblations together with his wife; avabhrithyaih — and the final rituals, known as avabhrithya; caritvā — having executed; te — they; mahārishayah — the great sages; sasnuh — bathed; rāma — of Lord Paraśurāma; hradein the lake; viprāh — brāhmanas; yajamāna — the sponsor of the sacrifice (Vasudeva); purah-sarāh — placing in front.

TRANSLATION

After supervising the patnī-samyāja and avabhrithya rituals, the great brāhmana sages bathed in Lord Paraśurāma's lake with the sponsor of the sacrifice, Vasudeva, who led them.
