atra -- in this regard; ca -- and; udaharanti -- they relate as an example; imam -- the following; itihasam -- historical account; puratanam -- ancient; vrka-asuraya -- to the demon Vrka; giri-sah -- Lord Siva, master of Mount Kailasa; varam -- a choice of benedictions; dattva -- giving; apa -- obtained; sankatam -- a dangerous situation.

TRANSLATION

In this connection, an ancient historical account is related concerning how the Lord of Kailasa Mountain was put into danger by offering a choice of benedictions to the demon Vrka.
