SYNONYMS
sri-sukah uvaca -- Sukadeva Gosvami said; ekada -- once; dvaravatyam -- in Dvaraka; tu -- and; vipra -- a brahmana's; patnyah -- of the wife; kumarakah -- the infant son; jata -- born; matrah -- only; bhuvam -- the ground; sprishtva -- touching; mamara -- died; kila -- indeed; bharata -- O descendant of Bharata (Parikshit Maharaja).
TRANSLATION
Sukadeva Gosvami said: Once, in Dvaraka, a brahmana's wife gave birth to a son, but the newborn infant died as soon as he touched the ground, O Bharata.
PURPORT
In this chapter Lord Vishnu has been glorified as the Supreme Godhead. Now Sukadeva Gosvami is going to identify Lord Krishna with that same Personality of Godhead by describing another pastime of His, one which highlighted His unequaled, divine characteristics.
