uttārya gopī suśritam payah punah
praviśya samdriśya ca dadhy-amatrakam
bhagnam vilokya sva-sutasya karma taj
jahāsa tam cāpi na tatra paśyatī
SYNONYMS
uttārya — putting down from the oven; gopī — mother Yaśodā; su-śritam — very hot; payah — the milk; punah — again; praviśya — entered the churning spot; samdriśya — by observing; ca — also; dadhi-amatrakam — the container of yogurt; bhagnam — broken; vilokya — seeing this; sva-sutasya — of her own child; karma — work; tat — that; jahāsa — smiled; tam ca — Krishna also; api — at the same time; na — not; tatra — there; paśyatī — finding.
TRANSLATION
Mother Yaśodā, after taking down the hot milk from the oven, returned to the churning spot, and when she saw that the container of yogurt was broken and that Krishna was not present, she concluded that the breaking of the pot was the work of Krishna.
PURPORT
Seeing the pot broken and Krishna not present, Yaśodā definitely concluded that the breaking of the pot was the work of Krishna. There was no doubt about it.
