tvam yakshmana balavatasi grihita indo
kshinas tamo na nija-didhitibhih kshinoshi
kaccin mukunda-gaditani yatha vayam tvam
vismritya bhoh sthagita-gir upalakshyase nah
SYNONYMS
tvam -- you; yakshmana -- by consumption; bala-vata -- powerful; asi -- are; grihitah -- seized; indo -- O moon; kshinah -- emaciated; tamah -- darkness; na -- not; nija -- your; didhitibhih -- with the rays; kshinoshi -- you destroy; kaccit -- whether; mukunda-gaditani -- the statements made by Mukunda; yatha -- like; vayam -- us; tvam -- you; vismritya -- forgetting; bhoh -- dear one; sthagita -- stunned; gih -- whose speech; upalakshyase -- you appear; nah -- to us.
TRANSLATION
My dear moon, having contracted a severe case of tuberculosis, you have become so emaciated that you fail to dispel the darkness with your rays. Or is it that you appear dumbstruck because, like us, you cannot remember the encouraging promises Mukunda once made to you?
