samvartako megha-gano
dhārābhir hasti-hastābhir
SYNONYMS
samvartakah — of annihilation; megha-ganah — hoards of clouds; varshati — will rain; sma — indeed; śatam samāh — for one hundred years; dhārābhih — with torrents; hasti-hastābhih — (raindrops measuring the length of) elephant trunks; līyate — will merge; salile — in the water; virāt — the entire universe.
TRANSLATION
Hoards of clouds called Samvartaka pour torrents of rain for one hundred years. Flooding down in raindrops as long as the trunk of an elephant, the deadly rainfall submerges the entire universe in water.
