śata-varshā hy anāvrishtir

bhavishyaty ulbanā bhuvi

tat-kālopacitoshnārko

lokāms trīn pratapishyati

SYNONYMS

śata-varshā — lasting one hundred years; hi — indeed; anāvrishtih — drought; bhavishyati — there will be; ulbanā — terrible; bhuvi — on the earth; tat-kālain that duration of time; upacita — accumulated; ushna — whose heat; arkah — the sun; lokān — the worlds; trīn — three; pratapishyati — will greatly burn.

TRANSLATION

As cosmic annihilation approaches, a terrible drought takes place on earth for one hundred years. For one hundred years the heat of the sun gradually increases, and its blazing heat begins to torment the three worlds.
