śareṣu hīyamāeṣu

bhajyamānesu dhanvasu

śastreṣu kṣīyamāneṣu

muṣṭibhir jahrur erakāḥ

SYNONYMS

śareṣu — the arrows; hīyamāneṣuas they became depleted; bhajyamāneṣuas they became broken; dhanvasu — the bows; śastreṣu — the missile weapons; kṣīyamāneṣuas they were used up; muṣṭibhiḥ — with their fists; jahruḥ — they seized; erakāḥ — cane stalks.

TRANSLATION

When all their bows had been broken and their arrows and other missiles spent, they seized the tall stalks of cane with their bare hands.
