yām visrijyaiva manavas

tat-sutāś ca kurūdvaha

gatā yathāgatam yuddhe

tām mām jeshyanty abuddhayah

SYNONYMS

yām — whom; visrijya — giving up; eva — indeed; manavah — human beings; tat-sutāh — their sons; ca — also; kuru-udvahaO best of the Kurus; gatāh — gone away; yathā-āgatam — just as they had originally come; yuddhein battle; tām — that; māmme, the earth; jeshyanti — they try to conquer; abuddhayah — unintelligent.

TRANSLATION

O best of the Kurus, the earth continued as follows: "Although in the past great men and their descendants have left me, departing from this world in the same helpless way they came into it, even today foolish men are trying to conquer me.
