marīci-pramukhair vipraih

kumārair manunā saha

drishtvā tat saukaram rūpam

tarkayām āsa citradhā

SYNONYMS

marīci — the great sage Marīci; pramukhaih — headed by; vipraih — all brāhmanas; kumāraih — with the four Kumāras; manunā — and with Manu; saha — with; drishtvā — seeing; tat — that; saukaram — appearance like a boar; rūpam — form; tarkayām āsa — argued among themselves; citradhāin various ways.

TRANSLATION

Struck with wonder at observing the wonderful boarlike form in the sky, Brahmā, with great brāhmanas like Marīci, as well as the Kumāras and Manu, began to argue in various ways.
