athāsmin bhagavān vainyah

prajānām vrittidah pitā

nivāsān kalpayām cakre

tatra tatra yathārhatah

SYNONYMS

atha — thus; asmin — on this planet earth; bhagavān — the Personality of Godhead; vainyah — son of Vena; prajānām — of the citizens; vrittidah — who supplies employment; pitāa father; nivāsān — residences; kalpayām — suitable; cakremake; tatra tatra — here and there; yathāas; arhatah — desirable, suitable.

TRANSLATION

To all the citizens of the state, King Prithu was as good as a father. Thus he was visibly engaged in giving them proper subsistence and proper employment for subsistence. After leveling the surface of the globe, he earmarked different places for residential quarters, inasmuch as they were desirable.
