maitreya uvāca
yajñair yajña-patis tushto
SYNONYMS
maitreyah uvāca — the great sage Maitreya continued to speak; bhagavān — the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Vishnu; api — also; vaikunthah — the Lord of Vaikuntha; sākam — along with; maghavatā — King Indra; vibhuh — the Lord; yajñaih — by the sacrifices; yajña-patih — the Lord of all yajñas; tushtah — satisfied; yajña-bhuk — the enjoyer of the yajña; tam — unto King Prithu; abhāshata — said.
TRANSLATION
The great sage Maitreya continued: My dear Vidura, being very much satisfied by the performance of ninety-nine horse sacrifices, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Vishnu, appeared on the scene. Accompanying Him was King Indra. Lord Vishnu then began to speak.
