anye ca nadā nadyaś ca varshe varshe santi bahuśo merv-ādi-giri-duhitarah śataśah
SYNONYMS
anye — many others; ca — also; nadāh — rivers; nadyah — small rivers; ca — and; varshe varshe — in each tract of land; santi — are; bahuśah — of many varieties; meru-ādi-giri-duhitarah — daughters of the mountains beginning with Meru; śataśah — in the hundreds.
TRANSLATION
Many other rivers, both big and small, flow from the top of Mount Meru. These rivers are like daughters of the mountain, and they flow to the various tracts of land in hundreds of branches.
