samparete pitari nava bhrātaro meru-duhitrir merudevīm pratirūpām ugradamshtrīm latām ramyām śyāmām nārīm bhadrām devavītim iti samjñā navodavahan
SYNONYMS
samparete pitari — after the departure of their father; nava — nine; bhrātarah — brothers; meru-duhitrih — the daughters of Meru; merudevīm — Merudevī; prati-rūpām — Pratirūpā; ugra-damshtrīm — Ugradamshtrī; latām — Latā; ramyām — Ramyā; śyāmām — Śyāmā; nārīm — Nārī; bhadrām — Bhadrā; deva-vītim — Devavīti; iti — thus; samjñāh — the names; nava — nine; udavahan — married.
TRANSLATION
After the departure of their father, the nine brothers married the nine daughters of Meru named Merudevī, Pratirūpā, Ugradamshtrī, Latā, Ramyā, Śyāmā, Nārī, Bhadrā and Devavīti.
Thus end the Bhaktivedanta purports of the Fifth Canto, Second Chapter, of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, entitled "The Activities of Mahārāja Āgnīdhra."
