atah param plakshādīnām pramāna-lakshana-samsthānato varsha-vibhāga upavarnyate
SYNONYMS
śrī-śukah uvāca — Śukadeva Gosvāmī said; atah param — after this; plaksha-ādīnām — of the island named Plaksha and others; pramāna-lakshana-samsthānatah — from the angle of dimensions, particular characteristics and form; varsha-vibhāgah — the division of the island; upavarnyate — is described.
TRANSLATION
The great sage Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Hereafter I shall describe the dimensions, characteristics and forms of the six islands beginning with the island of Plaksha.
