tasyā anudinam garbhah

śukla-paksha ivodupah

vavridhe śūraseneśa-

tejasā śanakair nripa

SYNONYMS

tasyāh — her; anudinam — day after day; garbhah — embryo; śukla-pakshe — during the fortnight of the waxing moon; iva — like; udupah — the moon; vavridhe — gradually developed; śūrasena-īśa — of the King of Śūrasena; tejasā — by the semen; śanakaih — little by little; nripaO King Parīkshit.

TRANSLATION

After receiving semen from Mahārāja Citraketu, the King of Śūrasena, Queen Kritadyuti gradually developed in her pregnancy, O King Parīkshit, just as the moon develops during the bright fortnight.
