śaram dhanushi sandhāya

muhūrte 'bhijitīśvarah

dadāha tena durbhedyā

haro 'tha tripuro nripa

SYNONYMS

śaram — the arrows; dhanushi — on the bow; sandhāya — joining together; muhūrte abhijiti — at noon; īśvarah — Lord Śiva; dadāha — set afire; tena — by them (the arrows); durbhedyāh — very difficult to pierce; harah — Lord Śiva; athain this way; tri-purah — the three residences of the demons; nripaO King Yudhishthira.

TRANSLATION

My dear King Yudhishthira, the most powerful Lord Śiva joined the arrows to his bow, and at noon he set fire to all three residences of the demons and thus destroyed them.
