kvacid alpam kvacid bhūri

bhuñje 'nnam svādv asvādu

kvacid bhūri gunopetam

guna-hīnam uta kvacit

śraddhayopahritam kvāpi

kadācin māna-varjitam

bhuñje bhuktvātha kasmimś cid

divā naktam yadricchayā

SYNONYMS

kvacit — sometimes; alpam — very little; kvacit — sometimes; bhūria great quantity; bhuñjeI eat; annam — food; svādu — palatable; asvādu — stale; — either; kvacit — sometimes; bhūri — great; guna-upetama nice flavor; guna-hīnam — without flavor; uta — whether; kvacit — sometimes; śraddhayā — respectfully; upahritam — brought by someone; kvāpi — sometimes; kadācit — sometimes; māna-varjitam — offered without respect; bhuñjeI eat; bhuktvā — after eating; athaas such; kasmin cit — sometimes, in some place; divā — during the daytime; naktam — or at night; yadricchayāas it is available.

TRANSLATION

Sometimes I eat a very small quantity and sometimes a great quantity. Sometimes the food is very palatable, and sometimes it is stale. Sometimes prasāda is offered with great respect, and sometimes food is given neglectfully. Sometimes I eat during the day and sometimes at night. Thus I eat what is easily available.
