ghritam me vira bhakshyam syan

nekshe tvanyatra maithunat

vivasasam tat tatheti

pratipede mahamanah

SYNONYMS

ghritam -- clarified butter or nectar; me -- my; vira -- O hero; bhakshyam -- eatable; syat -- shall be; na -- not; ikshe -- I shall see; tva -- you; anyatra -- any other time; maithunat -- except at the time of sexual intercourse; vivasasam -- without any dress (naked); tat -- that; tatha iti -- shall be like that; pratipede -- promised; mahamanah -- King Pururava.

TRANSLATION

Urvasi said: "My dear hero, only preparations made in ghee [clarified butter] will be my eatables, and I shall not want to see you naked at any time, except at the time of sexual intercourse." The great-minded King Pururava accepted these proposals.
