babhrur devāvridha-sutas
yathaiva śrinumo dūrāt
sampaśyāmas tathāntikāt
SYNONYMS
babhruh — Babhru; devāvridha — of Devāvridha; sutah — the son; tayoh — of them; ślokau — two verses; pathanti — all the members of the old generation recite; amū — those; yathā — as; eva — indeed; śrinumah — we have heard; dūrāt — from a distance; sampaśyāmah — are actually seeing; tathā — similarly; antikāt — presently also.
TRANSLATION
The son of Devāvridha was Babhru. Concerning Devāvridha and Babhru there are two famous songs of prayer, which were sung by our predecessors and which we have heard from a distance. Even now I hear the same prayers about their qualities [because that which was heard before is still sung continuously].
