nābhāgād ambarīsho 'bhūn
nāspriśad brahma-śāpo 'pi
SYNONYMS
nābhāgāt — from Nābhāga; ambarīshah — Mahārāja Ambarīsha; abhūt — took birth; mahā-bhāgavatah — the most exalted devotee; kritī — very celebrated; na aspriśat — could not touch; brahma-śāpah api — even the curse of a brāhmana; yam — unto whom (Ambarīsha Mahārāja); na — neither; pratihatah — failed; kvacit — at any time.
TRANSLATION
From Nābhāga, Mahārāja Ambarīsha took birth. Mahārāja Ambarīsha was an exalted devotee, celebrated for his great merits. Although he was cursed by an infallible brāhmana, the curse could not touch him.
