tāms tvam śamsaya sūkte dve

vaiśvadeve mahātmanah

te svar yanto dhanam satra-

pariśeshitam ātmanah

dāsyanti te 'tha tān arccha

tathā sa kritavān yathā

tasmai dattvā yayuh svargam

te satra-pariśeshanam

SYNONYMS

tānto all of them; tvam — yourself; śamsaya — describe; sūkte — Vedic hymns; dve — two; vaiśvadevein connection with Vaiśvadeva, the Supreme Personality of Godhead; mahātmanahto all of those great souls; te — they; svah yantah — while going to their respective destinations in the heavenly planets; dhanam — the wealth; satra-pariśeshitam — which remains after the end of the yajña; ātmanah — their own property; dāsyanti — will deliver; te — unto you; atha — therefore; tānto them; arcchago there; tathāin that way (according to his father's orders); sahhe (Nābhāga); kritavān — executed; yathāas advised by his father; tasmai — unto him; dattvā — after giving; yayuh — went; svargamto the heavenly planets; te — all of them; satra-pariśeshanam — remnants of yajña.

TRANSLATION

Nābhāga's father continued: "Go to those great souls and describe two Vedic hymns pertaining to Vaiśvadeva. When the great sages have completed the sacrifice and are going to the heavenly planets, they will give you the remnants of the money they have received from the sacrifice. Therefore, go there immediately." Thus Nābhāga acted exactly according to the advice of his father, and the great sages of the Ańgirā dynasty gave him all their wealth and then went to the heavenly planets.
