jnatva putrasya tat karma

gurunabhihitam nripah

desan nihsarayam asa

sutam tyakta-vidhim rusha

SYNONYMS

jnatva -- knowing; putrasya -- of his son; tat -- that; karma -- action; guruna -- by the spiritual master (Vasishtha); abhihitam -- informed; nripah -- the King (Ikshvaku); desat -- from the country; nihsarayam asa -- drove away; sutam -- his son; tyakta-vidhim -- because he violated the regulative principles; rusha -- out of anger.

TRANSLATION

When King Ikshvaku, thus informed by Vasishtha, understood what his son Vikukshi had done, he was extremely angry. Thus he ordered Vikukshi to leave the country because Vikukshi had violated the regulative principles.
