bhagīrathah sa rājarshir
SYNONYMS
bhagīrathah — King Bhagīratha; sah — he; rāja-rishih — the great saintly king; ninye — carried or brought; bhuvana-pāvanīm — mother Ganges, who can deliver the whole universe; yatra — in that place where; sva-pitrinām — of his forefathers; dehāh — the bodies; bhasmībhūtāh — having been burnt to ashes; sma śerate — were lying.
TRANSLATION
The great and saintly king Bhagīratha brought the Ganges, which can deliver all the fallen souls, to that place on earth where the bodies of his forefathers lay burnt to ashes.
