"kauḍi nāhi dibe ei, beḍāya chadma kari'

ājñā deha yadi, — 'cāńge caḍāñā la-i kauḍi'

SYNONYMS

kauḍi — the money; nāhi dibe — will not pay; ei — this man; beḍāya — squanders; chadma kari' — on some pretext; ājñā deha yadi — if you order; cāńge caḍāñā — raising on the cāńga; la-i kauḍiI shall get the money.

TRANSLATION

"'This Gopīnātha Paṭṭanāyaka,' he said, 'is unwilling to pay the money due. Instead, he is squandering it under some pretext. If you issue an order, I can put him on the cāńga and thus realize the money.'
