diśi dakṣiṇa-pūrvasyāḿ

druhyuḿ dakṣiṇato yadum

pratīcyāḿ turvasuḿ cakra

udīcyām anum īśvaram

SYNONYMS

diśiin the direction; dakṣiṇa-pūrvasyām — southeast; druhyum — his son named Druhyu; dakṣiṇataḥin the southern side of the world; yadumYadu; pratīcyāmin the western side of the world; turvasum — his son known as Turvasu; cakrehe made; udīcyāmin the northern side of the world; anum — his son named Anu; īśvaram — the King.

TRANSLATION

King Yayāti gave the southeast to his son Druhyu, the south to his son Yadu, the west to his son Turvasu, and the north to his son Anu. In this way he divided the kingdom.
