anna-jala tyāga kaila anya-kathana

pala dui-tina māṭhā karena bhakṣaṇa

SYNONYMS

anna-jala — food and drink; tyāga — renunciation; kaila — did; anya-kathana — talking of other things; pala dui-tinaa few drops of; māṭhā — sour milk; karena — does; bhakṣaṇa — eat.

TRANSLATION

Raghunātha dāsa Gosvāmī gradually gave up all food and drink but a few drops of buttermilk.
