aṣṭādaśādhyāya paḍe ānanda-āveśe

aśuddha paḍena, loka kare upahāse

SYNONYMS

aṣṭādaśa-adhyāya — eighteen chapters; paḍe — reads; ānanda-āveśein great ecstasy; aśuddha paḍena — could not pronounce the text correctly; loka — people in general; karedo; upahāse — joking.

TRANSLATION

The brāhmaṇa regularly read the eighteen chapters of the Bhagavad-gītā in great transcendental ecstasy, but because he could not pronounce the words correctly, people used to joke about him.
